This Bride’s Father Did Something Totally Surprising Before Giving Her Away

At her recent wedding in Elyria, Ohio, Brittany Peck stood arm-in-arm with her father Todd Bachman, ready for their long-awaited walk down the aisle. But as the two began their procession toward the groom, Bachman unexpectedly stopped his daughter in her tracks, ran to the front row and grabbed Peck’s stepfather Todd Cendrosky so that they could walk their daughter down the aisle together. Even though they hadn’t always gotten along, Bach knew that Cendrosky had been an incredible stepdad and an invaluable part of Brittany’s life. Including Cendrosky in the procession was Bachman’s humble, spontaneous act of recognition and gratitude — and the raw, emotional moment was caught by the couple’s wedding photographer, Delia Blackburn of Delia D. Blackburn Photography.

“Grab tissues… because you will need it as you look through these pictures,” Delia wrote on her Facebook page. “Todd Bachman, father of the bride, brought his daughter to the beginning of the aisle…he stopped the procession while people were confused at his actions and he walked up to his daughter’s stepfather. Todd reached out his hand and grabbed Brittany’s stepfather and pulled him down the aisle to walk their daughter down the aisle together. NOT A DRY EYE at the ceremony..including me! Families are what we make them…make it about your kids and not your ego. Congratulations Todd Bachman on showing your kids what true love really is…love for your children.”

As if father of the bride moments didn’t already make us melt… it’s almost too much for one tissue to handle! Since Blackburn’s post, the photos have amassed more than 1 million Facebook likes and reduced everyone to puddles of mush.

“[He] came and grabbed my hand and said: ‘You worked as hard as I have. You’ll help us walk our daughter down the aisle,'” Cendrosky told a local news station. “I got weak in the knees and lost it. Nothing better in my life, the most impactful moment in my life.”

The selflessness and compassion of this act makes for one of the sweetest wedding day stories we’ve ever seen. Beautiful acts like Bachman’s prove that the best moments of weddings are often unplanned, and that despite any family drama, a wedding always has the ability to bring love to the forefront.
